Code of Ethics and good practices
Alternativas journal is a publication committed to the quality of its content and the exercise of ethical good practices based on the code of conduct and best practices defined by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) for editors of scientific journals. In addition, the journal adheres to the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ). All parties involved (authors, editors, and peer reviewers) must adopt standards of ethical behavior. To publish in Alternativas journal, authors must take into account the highest standards regarding publication ethics for this purpose.
It has an Ethics Committee that operates according to the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). This committee is composed of the editor-in-chief of the journal, the editorial manager, and a representative of the Scientific Council.
In cases of conflict of interest:
In the event of a conflict of interest at any time during the editorial process, the case will be handled by the Ethics Committee, which will resolve the impasse.
Violations of research standards:
Authorship of research results is generally a matter of verifiable fact. If there is any doubt as to whether the research results reported in a submitted article are original to the alleged author or authors, the authors and/or their institutions will be consulted.
Journal policies in case of plagiarism:
- All material submitted through the OJS system will only be used with the express consent of the authors.
- The author must guarantee that all citations presented in their text have the respective academic credit.
- In case of identifying an article with signs of plagiarism, it will be withdrawn from the editorial process.
Ethical standards for Authors:
- Originality and responsibility: Authors of submitted manuscripts ensure that the work is original and also confirm the veracity of the data. They accept responsibility for what has been written. They attest to having carried out a review of the most current and relevant scientific literature on the analyzed topic, keeping in mind a pluralistic view of the different currents of knowledge.
- List of sources: The author must always provide the correct indication of the sources and contributions mentioned in the article.
- Authorship: It is important that each author of a contribution is credited as such. The authors guarantee the inclusion of all those who have made a significant scientific and intellectual contribution. At the same time, authors must be ranked according to their level of responsibility and involvement. It is equally important that a person is not named as an author when they are not.
- Errors in published articles: Immediately inform the journal editor when an author identifies a significant error or inaccuracy in their article, providing all the necessary information to correct said error.
- Conflict of interest: Authors must declare any potential conflict of interest. For their part, editors commit not to use the content of submitted articles for their own research without the written consent of the author.
- Publication times: Editors are ultimately responsible for compliance with time limits for reviews and the publication of accepted papers, to ensure a rapid dissemination of results.
Ethical standards for the Editorial Team:
- The Editorial Team is committed to maintaining the anonymity of the affiliation and identity of authors and evaluators. Furthermore, it will not disclose the content of the articles prior to publication.
- The Editorial Team is responsible for accepting the articles to be published, considering the journal's editorial parameters and the evaluation of peer reviewers.
- The journal's Ethics Committee will decide on any ethical conflict based on COPE parameters.
Resolution of cases of ethical misconduct:
If an editor has doubts that a submitted article describes something that could be considered misconduct in research, publication, or professional behavior, the case is discussed within the Editorial Team and COPE guidelines are consulted. If the case cannot be resolved through discussion with the author(s), and the editor still has doubts, the case may be reported to the appropriate authorities.
